About Us

Who We Are

Par Tee Girls Golf Club (PTG) is a San Francisco Bay Area women’s golf group.  Our Club caters to multiple levels of play and has a mix of casual and competitive players.  We do request that all potential members have played at least five rounds of 18 holes before considering joining our group.  This helps with understanding the pace of play and simple golf etiquette.

  • Tournaments take place one weekend day a month (either Saturday or Sunday) between the months of March and November.
  • Each tournament fee is based on where it is played.  Costs usually range from $65 to $125.
  • To help keep our costs down, tournament and other fees should all be submitted through PayPal.
  • We try to schedule a couple of Stay N’ Plays a year.  One is in the Monterey Peninsula and the other in Napa and/or Tahoe.
  • Please contact Debbie Gill (President) at debigill@comcast.net  if you have any questions.

From El Presidente:

The breeze at Las Positas caused all sorts of chaos, not with golf but with allergies. People without allergies were affected. The "carmageddon" didn't affect us city people as predicted.

Group 1: Debbie Gill, Tracy Terway, Jane Hornaday, Rekha Patel.  As remembered by Debbie.   It was a lovely day for golf…sunny, slight breeze and a flat course.  The starter indicated that the greens were bumpy and slow…like Debbie. We all had a bumpy front nine. Cuz that is how Debbie started off with a nine, eight, seven.  She hadn’t completed 18 holes in five months, so expectations were low. Tracy came out like gang busters but then faltered…but rose again on the back nine like a phoenix.   Jane had an up and down front nine but managed to be stellar on the back nine enough to win low net.   Rekha had a tough time putting on those bumpy and slow greens, but she hit the ball well. Rekha and Debbie rode together while Jane and Tracy walked.  On the No. 1 handicap ninth hole, there were lost balls to the water and the rough.  The golf gods were not good to us on #9.   As always, there were moments of brilliance and moments of asshholery.

Group 2:  Yoko Uesaka, Jacqueline Johnson, Michelle Lee, Joy Woo.  As scribed by Michelle. "What a gorgeous day to take on Las Positas! Our fearless foursome — Jacqueline, Yoko, Joy  and Michelle — brought the energy, the laughs, and yes, a fair number of Titleist golf balls donated to the water and rough along the way. The highlight reel? Jacqueline absolutely crushed a 216-yard monster drive on hole 12 — jaws dropped and birds scattered! Not to be outdone, Yoko birdied hole 15 like it was no big deal. Just another day at the "office" for her! Yoko and Joy proved to be the most in-sync cart mates on the course — they had a remarkable talent for landing their balls in the same spot, time and again. Solidarity! The weather was absolutely fabulous — sneezes and all — the company even better, and a great time was had by all!"

Group 3:  Lana Yagle, Joanne Wood, Lisa LaMagna with guest Mary Jo Knight.   No writers here. I looked at their scorecard and there really wasn’t anything to write home about, except Mary Jo Knight won 2nd Low Net.

Group 4:  Kathy Burry, Angelika Ryan, Amy Stout.  As written by Kathy. While our three-some’s total scores were not impressive, we each achieved some recognition.   Amy won longest drive with a whopping 175 yards, and when she was on, she belted the ball on many holes.   I won fewest putts (surprisingly), and Angelika had pars on several holes impressing us with her potential! The day was glorious, the company pleasant,  and we enjoyed the course (especially the price) .  We did find a few holes to be especially challenging where we had to skirt the tule’s and ponds --sometimes successfully, other times not. We were happy to welcome JoAnn Deasy on 18, who was abandoned by her group (for good reason).

Card Game

 Group 5 - 77

They even remembered to pick up the cards

From El Presidente:

I was on the DL so I rode around harassing everyone. I'm sure I was much appreciated...NOT. What a beautiful day to introduce Rancho Solano to newbies who never played there. They were truly impressed.

Group 1: Meleah Larroca, Linda Lockyer, JoAnn Deasy, Kathy Lemon.  As remembered by Meleah. What a beautiful day to start off the 2026 Par Tee Girls season!  Longtime members Linda Lockyer and Meleah Larroca were delighted to play with two new members, Kristy Case and Michelle Lee.  These ladies definitely came to play, with Kristy sinking a super long putt on the very first hole and Michelle holing out from 47 yards for a birdie on #10!  The back nine proved more challenging than the front, with some intimidating water placement, especially on holes 10 & 11.  Linda skirted around (as we all did) on #11 but had no choice but to go over it on #10.  Despite her self-doubt she flew the pond and landed with plenty of grass between her ball and the water.  Michelle’s wasn’t the only birdie, as Kristy and Meleah both had birdies early in the round on #2.  Kristy and Michelle both hit a long ball off the tee, and at one point in the round we noticed that Kristy never even used a driver for her long shots.  Michelle won the long drive contest for the day with a 205-yard shot on #10.  Meleah & Kristy shared the closest to the pin prizes on #8 & #15.  Linda kept our score cards in line and mostly remembered to get the Card Game envelopes out by the greens (with a little memory assist from Kristy!)  A very fun day with a great group of ladies!

Group 2: Kathy Burry, Judy Moran, Kathy Lemon, Lily Boris. As scribed by Lily. So was it a 52 card pick up, or an 18-story high-rise made of cards. The way we see it !!! Our final net score was fabulous; Even enviable. With plenty of potential eagle drives, albatross chips, and birdie putts!!! Sprinkled intermittently with complete and utter disasters like a falling High-rise house of cards. Kathy and Kathy and Lily & Judy managed net pars and birdies on the front nine! Tossed in net birdies on holes 3, 4, 8!! And more or less net bogies and birdies on the back nine. But every time we open that envelope, our best score was compromised by that darn card. So we laughed and occasionally broke out in the song, and enjoyed the beautiful day. And each other’s company.  That’s golf.

Group 3: Lana Yagle, Mary Jo Leary, Tracy Terway, Maureen Theberge.  As reminisced by Mary Jo.  Sunday served up a picture-perfect, ridiculously sunny day, and the course looked absolutely pristine. We had a full field of golfers and lots of new faces—always fun to see the ParTee crew growing! Our foursome even had a rookie… and wow, did she make an entrance. Tracy can hit a ball a country mile!  Seriously impressive. Rookie of the year vibes already—she’s a natural. Her cart mate Maureen brought a smooth, beautifully measured swing that made it all look easy. Lana and Mary Jo rounded out the group and delivered some pretty stellar shots of their own. Safe to say, our foursome brought the energy! The fairways? MASSIVE. Some lined with sparkling lakes, some rolling over sleepy knolls, and some featuring grass as high as an elephant’s eye. And yes… we generously donated more than a few golf balls to the course. At times, trudging up and down hills searching for lost balls felt less like golf and more like a team-building adventure. But honestly—that was half the fun!? From the tee box, it was a whole lot of territory between us and the flag. Most of the time we couldn’t even see it… just tee it up, swing big, and hope for the best. All in all, a fantastic start to what’s shaping up to be a great year with the ParTee gals. Can’t wait for the next round!

Group 4: Jane Hornaday, Joanne Wood, Virginia Lawson, Rekha Patel. As reviewed by Jane. Welcome to the ParTee Girls family, Rekha! For her first tournament, Rekha came out swinging. Off the tee and down the fairway, she was dialed in. A par on the par-3 #8 and a gorgeous pitch right at the pin had us all in awe. The greens proved trickier and the putting elusive - as we all did. Virginia was a picture of consistency, finding fairways and sticking her pitches. She conquered the tough #9 with a 5, though holes #7 and #10 had other plans—including a couple of lost balls that golf gods demanded as tribute. Joanne brought her A-game and walked away with the gift cards: Closest to the Pin on #15 and Low Net for the entire tournament—not bad for someone who battled through bunkers and gremlins on the par-4 #16! Jane enjoyed the camaraderie and beautiful weather, posting 3 pars and 6 bogies. Those sneaky par-3s on the back nine had other ideas—one caught water, another caught Jane in the bunkers. Nobody said golf was fair!

Group 5: Yoko Uesaka, Valerie Makarovsky, JoAnn Deasy, Chris Czerkies. As written by Valerie. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.  It was a time of PARs and 0-putt holes, it was a time of double PARs and lost balls.  Somehow the stars aligned and we netted a 38 on the front 9 with a double bogey games for Joann, Valerie and Chris while Yoko’s pulled out a bogey game thanks to exceptional putting and Chris’ eagle eye which always managed to find Yoko’s lost balls.  Valerie managed to PAR hole 3 and Yoko PARRed hole 9 so heading into the back 9 we were riding a waive of optimism until we got to the 3 water holes which nearly did us in.  Once the water holes were behind us though Chris rallied with 2, 1-putt holes in a row. Valerie got back to a bogey game after downing a can of Coors Light.   Yoko got another Par on hole 15 and JoAnn got us back on track with a double bogey which netted us a 39 on the back nine and apparently a game win not in small part thanks to the teams which forgot to check the cards :)  So all’s well that ends well.  We are ready for the next challenge!

From El Presidente:

The end of the season has arrived. It was a fun bunch of outings with a great group of women. Just plain fun with a little bit of pain thrown in. Make sure you read the bottom of the recap for the 2025 in numbers...always amusing.

Group 1:   Elise Leung, Meleah Larroca, Orla Petirs.  As Orla remembers. As the first group off, we braved the drizzle, armed with optimism, sometimes questionable aim, and plenty of laughter. Elise dominated the course with the lowest gross and closest to the pin. Orla launched the longest drive - then promptly demonstrated that putting is an entirely different sport. Meleah showed great consistency and kept spirits high despite some lost balls. The round ended in sunshine, smiles, and just enough good shots to keep everyone coming back.

Group 2:   Debbie Gill, Joy Woo, Kim Richardson, Joanne Wood.  Debbie scribes. Debbie scribes because she didn’t play many holes due to her many maladies and the aging process. As Mickey Mantle said, “if I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.” Joy was the star of the foursome with a 49 on the front nine. She birdied the par-3, #7. Sadly, it wasn’t one of closest to the pin holes. She lost steam on the last couple of holes but tied for Low Net. Hooray. Kim birdied the par-3, #3 with a long putt. She had a couple of blow-up holes but righted herself with several pars. Joanne parred quite a few holes and played better than her handicap. We all laughed a lot which makes it so much more fun to play this beautiful course on a fabulous Fall Day.

Group 3:   Linda Lockyer, Rekha Patel, Jane Hornaday, Lisa LaMagna. Jane speaks. Perfect day on the HMB Ocean course! Linda dominated the front nine with consistent tee-to-green play. Rekha's back nine was stellar—could've been even lower without a few lip-outs. Jane delivered a clutch par save on 18 and Lisa's short game shined throughout. And that ugly Hole 10? Duff city for everyone—good laughs all around. Great having Rekha as our guest!

Group 4:   Lana Yagle, Marissa Felezardo, JoAnn Deasy, Valerie Makarovsky.  No one scribed for this foursome…slackers!!!

Group 5:   Deb Upshaw, Virginia Lawson, Lily Boris, Diana Millado. By our favorite blurb writer, Lily. In the Bay Area, we’d call a foggy morning ‘dreary.’   But out by the Oceanside the fog was magnificent.  It is not wrong to call first day of November in California a typical “fall” day.   The sun hung behind the fog for hours, crisp and cold in the morning, followed by a bright sunshine (after we all had played at least 16 holes). We had a day much like a quote from Bobby Jones: "Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies." Deb played PAR 3’s and 4’s very well.  Managed the course gullies and valleys.  Her drives were consistent, and her putts were generally online. She also managed to stay out of the sand on this day. Virginia came ready to play.  All smiles and laughter.  Her driver was spot on!!! Didn’t miss a single drive.  She had several PARs and several NET PARs. Diana started the morning with PARs on holes 1-2 & 3, followed by a 10 and she managed the course so well, that she ended her day with a 91 and low net. Lily played alongside Diana.  Lily played a very different game, managing to make distance shots BUT NOT putts.  And at the end of the round had a decent score … so go figure. Truly golf is a cool game.
