About Us

Who We Are

Par Tee Girls Golf Club (PTG) is a San Francisco Bay Area women’s golf group.  Our Club caters to multiple levels of play and has a mix of casual and competitive players.  We do request that all potential members have played at least five rounds of 18 holes before considering joining our group.  This helps with understanding the pace of play and simple golf etiquette.

  • Tournaments take place one weekend day a month (either Saturday or Sunday) between the months of March and November.
  • Each tournament fee is based on where it is played.  Costs usually range from $65 to $125.
  • To help keep our costs down, tournament and other fees should all be submitted through PayPal.
  • We try to schedule a couple of Stay N’ Plays a year.  One is in the Monterey Peninsula and the other in Napa and/or Tahoe.
  • Please contact Debbie Gill (President) at debigill@comcast.net  if you have any questions.

Ready to Join the Par Tee Girls

La Presidente:   Harding Tourney was foggy in the beginning and then the sun came out but not before Lily had to buy a vest and JoAnn had to search for her ski cap. Thanks to Linda Lockyer for arranging the tourney and reserving a table afterwards with our personalized menu. And thanks to Katie for figuring out the bill. I hope we gave you enough money. I came home with more money than I came with...I stole $60 from Jane, but don't tell her.

Group 1:   Betty Osborn, Judy Moran, Elise Leung, Katie Arnemann: As scribed by Katie: Betty was the queen of 2-putts with six and she won 2nd low net!  Judy had the most consistent drives making Katie jealous, but Judy won closest to the pin on #17!  We all drove better when Elise went first because our shots needed direction! Elise was robbed of longest drive on 10 when the course didn’t provide the marker…well they did but it was on #14. Katie had four, one-putts with several long putts and won fewest putts and low net. We had a great time with great weather and it was lovely to walk!

Group 2:   Chris Czerkies, Lily Boris, Althea Peng, Valerie Makarovsky. As quickly written by Althea.  What a beautiful day with beautiful women! The course was in great shape too. We all had our moments of brilliance. Althea had a sandy chip in par on #3 for a 3 with 0 putts but couldn’t make a putt outside of 3 feet. Lily connected on a bunch of her drives, especially on the back 9. Valerie avoided a double bogey on #17 with a fantastic long one-putt. Chris wins most improved, going from 61 on the front to 49 on the back! Yet another fun outing with the Par Tee Girls!

Group 3:   Jane Hornaday, Ted Hornaday, Linda Lockyer: As Ted surprised the group by writing: It was a sunny day, and three hot blondes ventured forth for an 18-hole Par-T.   Many long drives were hit, and many long putts were missed and missed and missed except for Linda’s speed putting and phenomenal 2-putting.  Thanks for another great day, Par-T girls. Keep it up!

Group 4:   Jacqueline Johnson, Maureen Theberge, Debbie Gill, JoAnn Deasy.  As remembered by Debbie without her notes.  The good: JoAnn and Debbie got a handicap flag for our cart to allow us to ride on the Fairway…a god send. Jacqueline made two long putts. Maureen got off the tee well and scored well on the front nine. The bad.  Jacqueline could have had the longest drive but it wound up hitting a tree on the right and then bouncing onto the rough ahead of Althea’s drive. Debbie played the par threes with aplomb, but never closest to the pin. Maureen had a helluva time in the rough. JoAnn too had problems in the rough but once she got on the fairway, she hit it well.  The ugly. JoAnn getting too close to the green with the cart and the governor made her go back some 50 yards. We waited for her. Jacqueline’s teammates failed her a couple of times as we didn’t follow her drive and she had a lost ball. Maureen was frustrated on the back nine as she landed in the rough a lot and it consistently grabbed her club. Debbie’s score card looked like a bunch of 6s and 7s.  Double bogey golf. But fun…absolutely.

 Okay, guest wins two prizes

La Presidente:    It was a grand day weather wise to play this difficult course. My least favorite hole in all of Northern California is #6 at Wente. All uphill and of course, cart path only.  Nope my knees and shoulder didn't want any part of that. But how beautiful the environs were...wild flowers, vineyards, rolling hills and blue sky. Can't beat that.

Group 1:  Meleah Larroca, Kim Richardson, Katie Arnemann, Jacqueline Johnson. No one opted to write a blurb, considering most of them are still working, you get a pass.

Group 2:  Audrey Szutu, Melanie Raymundo, Lily Boris, Amy Stout. As scribed by Lily. Felt like the course at Wente was the first sunny spring — perfect “warm weather” golf day.  Amy mastered putting with SEVEN one putts on holes 1-2-5-11-14-17 & 18.  Mel put her driver in time out on hole 6…. But brought it back in time to reach the longest drive on 15.  And did I mention her birdie on 3!!! Audrey played the ‘75 yards and IN’ tournament.  And yes. She had the chip and putt contest down to perfection. Lily well.  Outside of her birdie on 4!  Had a mmmmmhhhhh not so spectacular score! On the plus side, our cart didn’t chime that many times!

Group 3:  Lana Yagle, Barbara McKay, Judy Moran, Kathy Burry. No one wrote anything so undoubtedly, they weren’t thrilled except maybe Judy who won Low Gross.

Group 4:  Debbie Gill, Lisa LaMagna, Joy Woo, Orla Petirs. As reminisced by Debbie & Lisa. A Wente Haiku by Lisa:
    Lost balls in the vines
Three putts, four putts, punched with sand,
    Still the best damn day.

Lisa summed it up. Joy played one of her best rounds, Debbie played her worst round since she was 12. We all started out well by hitting the fairways on the first two holes. Then the third hole…three landed in the same trap all in a row. This hole started Debbie’s decline. The four of us hadn’t played together before so we got to know each other and each other’s game. Orla, who has only been playing for two years, hits the crap out of the ball. Her golf future has great promise as she hones her short game. Lisa, we learned, has great golf IQ. She played some of the holes with aplomb, especially the god-awful #6. She hit a club to go about 120 yards (I thought she miss-hit it). Then she wound up just below the hairy grass in front of the green on her second. On in three, two putted for a bogey 5. Fine work, Lisa. We won’t talk about Orla or Joy. You could talk about Debbie, but she didn’t even play #6. Joy was the only player who didn’t four-putt. She was also the only one who sunk a long putt (20 feet). She pretty much hit right down the middle consistently and tied for low net. Whadda star!! The highlight for Debbie was a par on #7, the rest was hellish and full of assholery. She apologizes to her foursome for her awful play.

Group 5:  Deb Upshaw, Maureen Theberge, Valerie Makarovsky.  Deb remembered it well. While Deb waited at Hole #1 for Maureen and Valerie to show up; the Clerk of the course went in search of the two who were trying to find their way to the start after warming up on the driving range. So, the beginning of the game got off to a bit of a rough start, but that didn’t stop Valerie from getting 3 one putts on the first four holes. However, Maureen had a bit of a tough start when she got stuck in the freshly mowed grass on first par three. Even though Maureen had a difficult start to the day, her game improved impressively after the 9th hole.  Deb had a consistent first round without losing any golf balls, but the second half of her game presented more of a challenge, losing two golf balls and having some wavering shots. Even though it had some tough holes, we all enjoyed Wente golf course and had a fun day.

Card Game

 Team 3 - Score 86

 Judy, Jane, Lily, and Joy

La Presidente:    The start of our 2025 season was chilly and misty but I think we had fun in our misery. Well, I did.

Group 1: Debbie Gill, Amy Stout, JoAnn Deasy, Kathy Lemon.  Scribed by Debbie. It was cart path only and chilly.  We decided to use the cart path in another way.  Kathy Lemon started using the cart path very early and we followed her idea. Each of us used the cart path to gain extra yardage.  We had moments of brilliance: Debbie having eight one-putts, Amy winning the longest drive on #18, JoAnn parring the two par threes on the front nine and Kathy playing all par threes with bogeys. And then we had moments of assholery:  Debbie hacking herself up #18 to then one putt (as Kathy Lemon says, “whip cream on shit.”), Amy five putting #9, JoAnn with a few 9s and Kathy with a 10 on the uphill #4. From the get go, the card game was our nemesis cuz the card drawn was most often the highest score on any hole. But fun we had.

Group 2: Mary Jo Leary, Mary Ann Cucchiaro, Lana Yagle, Lisa LaMagna. Written by New Member Lisa LaMagna (rhymes with Lasagna.)  I’m at a party in Palm Springs with a group of golfers and there is a table next to mine and the women are having a GREAT time. On top of that, they are winning prizes from the NCGA event organizer. Who ARE these women?! Well, of course it is Lana, Mary Jo, Kathy and Linda and they are all so friendly and welcomed me to play golf with them in Walnut Creek on March 16th.  I came, I golfed, I laughed. OK, perhaps I didn’t golf as well as I’d hoped, but I had a wonderful time meeting you all. Can’t wait for the next event. Thank you!

Group 3: Judy Moran, Jane Hornaday, Lily Boris, Joy Woo. As usual, penned by Lily.  The course is called the “DOLLAR.” Quite fitting as Judy, Jane, Joy, and Lily set off to bet on each of those 18 envelopes on the green. Hole 1 was a red heart. Now what!  Lily loudly proclaiming that hole 2 had to be a spade, clover, or diamond. BUT couldn’t be another heart.  But it was a purple heart!!!!  All bets and gloves came off!  Jane and Judy each sunk a couple of chips ins.  ZERO putts we’d all 4 laugh out loud. Joy dominates on the putting greens.  Judy and Lily just had to keep going for distance on their drives.  Jane was solid from T to green! Bunkers were not our friends today.  But eh, we’ll be back next month for another round.  Light mist, clouds, and sun accompanied us.  We launched shots with our irons, woods, drivers, and wedges.  We laughed! We even belted out a few tunes.  Mostly we enjoyed each other’s company!

Group 4: Kathy Burry, Linda Lockyer, Valerie Makarovsky, Maureen, Theberge. Recorded by Linda. It was a cool and drizzly March Day.  The hills, fairways and greens were bright green.  If I didn’t know better, I'd think we were in Ireland.  Now I can use the weather as our excuse.  Linda started out with very good tee and fairway shots only to 4 and 3-putt on #1 and #2.  Unfortunately both holes were Linda's suit of hearts.  Kathy had her typical nice drives and had a net par on #4 and #10.  Her suit was spades and it seemed to come up when she was having some extra putts.  Valerie had a par on #2 and a net par on #16.  She also joined the high putting club with 49 putts overall.  Maureen hit the driver very well and chipped in #4 for a bogey.  Even though we didn’t win the team game we had fun and enjoyed the day.  It was a good start to a nice PTG season.

Group 5: Chris Czerkies, Marissa Felizardo, Virginia Lawson. As noted by Marissa.  I really enjoyed the course despite none of us playing great cart path golf. I have missed the Partee Girls and the 19th hole banter. Virginia: great tour guide. Missed a fair number of fairways but showed off her putting prowess by two putting almost every hole except one or two. DFSPFD! Also, my arthritic knees want that doohickey she has affixed to the end of her putter for picking up balls without bending. Chris:  Consistently had some excellent drives (except for #18) and nice straight approach shots throughout the day.  Got closest to the pin with a killer shot. She also ate 4 bananas. No leg cramps for Chris! Marissa: Picked up on three holes, parred two holes. Had a one putt. The rust is real, but I sure did have fun. Sorry to Virginia and Chris that I biffed on the card game and didn’t tally our total scores. I thought La Presidente was gonna do it as if she didn’t have enough to do. Oops.
