Par Tee Girls Golf Club (PTG) is a San Francisco Bay Area women’s golf group. Our Club caters to multiple levels of play and has a mix of casual and competitive players. We do request that all potential members have played at least five rounds of 18 holes before considering joining our group. This helps with understanding the pace of play and simple golf etiquette.

From El Presidente:
It was a beautiful day for golf. And the course was in great shape. What more could one ask.
Group 1: Elise Leung, Joy Woo, Joanne Wood, Orla Petirs. Orla coerced into writing. We started off bright and early with high hopes, questionable confidence, and just a little fear instilled by Debbie’s email about pace of play. On hole 4, Joy popped one straight up into the atmosphere, and in true cart-mate solidarity, Joanne decided no one should suffer alone and joined her. Elise was clearly the group professional for the day, making a birdie on hole 5 and casually sprinkling in several pars. After carding an 8, Joy confidently announced “no more snowmen,” only to immediately follow it up with a 9 — proving golf hears everything and punishes optimism accordingly. Still, she redeemed herself with some impressive touch and finesse around the greens. Joanne stayed steady all day and especially owned the par 3s, quietly avoiding the chaos happening elsewhere. Orla somehow managed to win closest to the pin on both holes, but unfortunately the putter chose not to participate in the celebration. Overall, there were plenty of ups, downs, and extra shots, but fun was definitely had by all.
Group 2: Debbie Gill, Jacqueline Johnson, Kathy Lemon, Betty Osborn. As usual written by Debbie. Debbie lost her notes again. Betty started off askew cuz she didn’t have her glove so she had to buy one. That set the group behind, and the first group was on the green as we teed off. But we had our excuse from the get-go. Jacqueline was coming off a two-day bout of food poisoning and began to feel queasy by the 7th hole. She was a trooper though and held it together (in) until the turn. She was wise to take off. Debbie was debilitated with a bad back and gave up after two bad holes. The hills killed her. We all had a great laugh at Kathy on the par three #8. Kathy chipped within two feet of the hole and was putting for a par…she three putted. All three had a 7 on that awful par 5 dog leg #7, the No. 1 handicap. And no lost balls.
Group 3: Lana Yagle, Sherry Endicott, Kathy Burry, Virginia Lawson. Scribed reluctantly by Virginia. It was a beautiful day on a beautiful course and the company was superb! Cart mates, Kathy and Virginia, both had a par on hole #2, however, Virginia only had one putt. So there. Sherry had a stellar round but to her demise, she was in the sand on hole #4 for quite a while. Most impressive were Lana and Sherry on 14 where they both made it to the green in 4! Kathy and Lana kept a pretty good pace and Lana ended with only 30 putts to come in second. Virginia had a fantastic day with only one blowup on hole #14.
Group 4: Deborah Upshaw, Lily Boris, Yoko Uesaka, Linda Lockyer. Scribed by our resident blurb author. Today’s golf was actually a game of pinball for our foursome. Once the initial silver ball was launched, the scoring went as follows:
Hole 1: Lily with a bogey.
Hole 2: Linda and Yoko tied with pars. Linda had chip-in! WTG
Holes 3 & 4: Linda and Yoko both took bogies.
Hole 5: Did us all in. That 420+ yard uphill, our balls bounced around and we scored too many points on the pinball machine
Holes 6-7-8-9: Landed us bogeys and a PAR.
Holes 10 Deb PAR, 11 to 18. Had a few snags, bumps, and ball damage. Oh and the pinball flippers came off!!! There were bright lights, jazzy sounds, laughter among us, and more than a few amazing shots. I think overall I can say, we felt like we were inside a pinball machine playing golf.
Group 5: Judy Moran, Jane Hornaday, Valerie Makarovsky, Maureen Theberge. Remembered by Valerie. It was a beautiful Sunday with lots of sunshine and light breezes. The game started out with a men’s foursome breathing down our necks and gunning for our balls from a neighboring fairway, but in the end, they redeemed themselves by picking up and turning in Maureen’s lost fairway wood club cover, so we hold no grudges. Our group stayed well on pace and focused on our game. Judy Moran played her usual steady bogey game with 2 pars on 10 and 16, 4 one-putt holes and only faltered on 9 and 18 which likely cost her the low net. Jane had an up and down round and struggled hitting her approach shots (BRS brings the challenges of hitting on the hills!) but only exceeded her 2-putt average twice during the entire game. Maureen had a hard time with the uneven terrain, a few lost balls and a few sand traps on the front nine (undoubtedly the Cosmos consumed at her son’s engagement party the night before had something to do with that), but then she turned it around on the back nine. Valerie for some reason known only to the God’s of Golf played her best game with steady drives, unprecedented 4 Pars and some really lucky long puts which resulted in a low net win. At the end of the day, we enjoyed each other’s company, and good time was had by all.

From El Presidente:
The breeze at Las Positas caused all sorts of chaos, not with golf but with allergies. People without allergies were affected. The "carmageddon" didn't affect us city people as predicted.
Group 1: Debbie Gill, Tracy Terway, Jane Hornaday, Rekha Patel. As remembered by Debbie. It was a lovely day for golf…sunny, slight breeze and a flat course. The starter indicated that the greens were bumpy and slow…like Debbie. We all had a bumpy front nine. Cuz that is how Debbie started off with a nine, eight, seven. She hadn’t completed 18 holes in five months, so expectations were low. Tracy came out like gang busters but then faltered…but rose again on the back nine like a phoenix. Jane had an up and down front nine but managed to be stellar on the back nine enough to win low net. Rekha had a tough time putting on those bumpy and slow greens, but she hit the ball well. Rekha and Debbie rode together while Jane and Tracy walked. On the No. 1 handicap ninth hole, there were lost balls to the water and the rough. The golf gods were not good to us on #9. As always, there were moments of brilliance and moments of asshholery.
Group 2: Yoko Uesaka, Jacqueline Johnson, Michelle Lee, Joy Woo. As scribed by Michelle. "What a gorgeous day to take on Las Positas! Our fearless foursome — Jacqueline, Yoko, Joy and Michelle — brought the energy, the laughs, and yes, a fair number of Titleist golf balls donated to the water and rough along the way. The highlight reel? Jacqueline absolutely crushed a 216-yard monster drive on hole 12 — jaws dropped and birds scattered! Not to be outdone, Yoko birdied hole 15 like it was no big deal. Just another day at the "office" for her! Yoko and Joy proved to be the most in-sync cart mates on the course — they had a remarkable talent for landing their balls in the same spot, time and again. Solidarity! The weather was absolutely fabulous — sneezes and all — the company even better, and a great time was had by all!"
Group 3: Lana Yagle, Joanne Wood, Lisa LaMagna with guest Mary Jo Knight. No writers here. I looked at their scorecard and there really wasn’t anything to write home about, except Mary Jo Knight won 2nd Low Net.
Group 4: Kathy Burry, Angelika Ryan, Amy Stout. As written by Kathy. While our three-some’s total scores were not impressive, we each achieved some recognition. Amy won longest drive with a whopping 175 yards, and when she was on, she belted the ball on many holes. I won fewest putts (surprisingly), and Angelika had pars on several holes impressing us with her potential! The day was glorious, the company pleasant, and we enjoyed the course (especially the price) . We did find a few holes to be especially challenging where we had to skirt the tule’s and ponds --sometimes successfully, other times not. We were happy to welcome JoAnn Deasy on 18, who was abandoned by her group (for good reason).
